A. Answer: All of our depots have parking on site for our self drive customers. Please call your local depot for any further information that you may require.

Q. hi can i cancel my van
A. Answer: All cancellations must be submitted in writing or by email to the relevant branch. When notification is more than 72 hrs prior to the commencement of the vehicle rental a refund less 30% will be made. When notification is less than 72hrs but more than 24hrs a refund less 60% will be made. Notification less than 24hrs or failure to show will result in no refund given. Britannia Lanes Self Drive will not refund any unused rental days.

Q. can i pick up in afternoon
A. Answer: Rentals are normally from 8.30AM till 8.30AM the next day. However if the vehicle is avaliable the night before this can be arranged for an additional cost. Please contact your local depot for more information.

Q. Price per mile
A. Answer: there are 100 miles each day with all of our vehicles. Should you go over this additional miles are charged at 10pence per mile for Panel and Luton vehicles and 15 pence per mile for the 7.5T box Van. Please call your local office for any further information you require.

Q. Can I pick up on Sat am and return Sat evening?

A. Answer: The deposit on Panel and Luton vehicles is £150 and £200 on 7.5T box vans. Should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact your local office

A. Answer: Normal collection times for vehicles are from 0830 Monday to Saturday. Should you require a different collection time please call your local office for further information on avaliability.

Q. Can I pick up at 0930 and return 0930 the next day?
A. Answer: Rental Periods are normally from 0830 to 0830 the next day but please call your local office as this may be avaliable for a small additional fee.

Q. how old do i have to be?
A. Answer: Drivers must be between 25 and 75 years of age and able to produce a full, valid, UK driving licence held for at least twelve months. It is the driver's responsibility to ensure that he/she has the appropriate driving licence. Drivers must not have had their drivers licence suspended for 3 months during the past year, or 6 months during the past 3 years, or have more than 6 points on the licence.

Q. If I wish to hire two of the smaller vans, do I have to pay the deposit of £150 twice?
A. Answer: Yes the refundable deposit would be for each individual vehicle.

Q. We would be driving to London and back Is there a mileage charge? Is this + VAT? What are the insurance requirements and or costs? Any other cost implications.
A. Answer: Britannia Lanes Self Drive rental rates are fully inclusive of third party insurance, VAT and 100 free miles per day. If you incur extra mileage over the free 100 miles per day then this is charged at a rate of 10p per mile on vehicles 3.5 tonne and under or 15p per mile for vehicles 7.5 tonne or over. Other costs that could be implicated would be at your request if for example you decide to take up the Insurance Excess Waiver @ £9.90 per day which will reduce the Insurance excess from £500.00 to £95.00, or you add extra drivers for example. Refundable deposits of £150.00 for vans 3.5 tonne and under or £200.00 for vans 7.5 tonne and over are payable on or before van collection. Q. is the deposit taken on a credit card number or taken out of the bank ?
A. Answer: The deposit can be taken on a creit card but a 2.5% surchage is levied and this is non refundable. If it is taken on a debit card the is no surcharge but the money will be taken from your acount.it card.

Q. If I picked up a Luton van up at the end of the day Friday, would I still be charged for a full day? I am moving on the weekend of the 3rd December, and want to make a early start so did not want to be picking the van up on the saturday morning.
A. Answer: It is possible to Hire a vehicle from the night before for an additional cost to the day rate if it is free. Please can you call your local office for further information.

A. Answer: Driven in the correct manner and averaging the usage between motorway and town you will get approx 15 mpg.

Q. do you hire a 7.5 for half a day
A. Answer: All hire periods are 24 hours or multiples of, from 8.30am day of hire untill 8.30am on day of return, and charges are also calculated at a daily rate. However customers who so wish can return vehicles early within the branch opening hours but please note there is no refund for an early return.

Q. hello, I have to take a double bed and mattress plus a single bed mattress somewhere ( in the Penzance area) can you let me know what size of van I will require and the cost for the day? Do you hire vans for half a day? Many thanks Jerry
A. Answer: Hi Jerry, You should only need a panel van for what you have described. We only offer full day hires at £60 per van for the day, however if you book online 4 weeks in advance you can get a vehilce of this size for £29 for the day. Please call Paul on 01872 561847 for more information.

Q. I would like to book a Luton Van at the Weekend rate from Friday 28th at 4.30pm to return Monday 31st 8.30am. the online booking system does not appear to do this. do I have to ring you to do this.
A. Answer: Our online booking service will only allow reservations from 8.30am the day required to 8.30am on the day of return , however you can telephone your local branch to make your weekend booking given van availability. Q. Can I collect and return the van at 12.00 noon.
A. Answer: Daily rentals are from 8.30 AM to 8.30AM the next day, pick up can be later but return is always due by 8.30AM.

Q. Do I Need a Taco?
A. Answer: neither the Panel van nor the 3.5T luton vehicles are fitted with Tachographs. The 7.5T box van is but if you are hiring the vehicle for private non commercial use there is no requirement to use it. Please ensure that you have the correct licence to be able to drive this vehicle.

Q. can i put another driver on thehire
A. Answer: Yes you can for an extra fee of £5.00 per driver per day. Please note all drivers must appear in person at the branch of hire with their valid driving documentation

A. Answer: The insurance excess on a Panel van is £500.00 but for an extra payment of £9.90 per day hired we can reduce that to £95.00.

Q. will a 3.5t panel van be large enough to fit normal size wardrobes,a washing machine and a double bed in
A. Answer: The internal measurements of a 3.5 t Panel van is 3.2 meters long, 1.85 meters high and 1.7 meters wide. it has a capacity of 10 cu meters. From the discription of the goods to be carried I would say the Panel van would suit your requirements but please use the meaurements I have given you to check prior to booking. for further information please call your local branch.

A. Answer: Assuming that the van is brought back in the same condition as it was rented out and full of fuel you would receive a full refund. Please contact our offices for any further information.

Q. Can I pick up a truc at 5pm ten return it 5pm next day - will this be 1 day or 2?
A. Answer: Normal rentals are from 8.30 am to 8.30 am so this would normally be a 2 day rental, please contact you local office as we may be able to offer an alternative option for you dependant on the dates you require.

Q. do your vans come with tow bars, as i will need to tow my caravan in my move

A. Answer: In answer to your question below the vehicle rental including the days insurance is £29 when booked far enough in advance. However there is a card processing fee that is charged to us by the banks for processing an internet card payment that we cannot absorb. When compared with the fees charged by Easyjet or Flybe I'm sure you will agree they are reasonable.
